THE CRISIS AND THE FINANCIAL DIFFICULTY WITHIN THE ENTERPRISE FRAMEWORK - AN OVERALL VIEW OF ROMANIA | Download | Author(s): Anisoara Apetri, Ancuta- Anisia Chelba | DOI: 10.4316/EJAFB.2024.12301 | | Abstract: Financial difficulty creates many inconveniences within a company, from blockages in making payments to jeopardizing the company's survival. The purpose of this research paper is to survey the representatives of 120 companies in Romania in order to present the situation regarding the financial difficulty within them, but also the most representative symptoms in the emergence of a crisis within the analyzed companies. The first objective considers the review of specialized literature on the topic of financial difficulty, implicitly presenting the evolution of the number of scientific publications on this topic, and the second objective is focused on the analysis of the companies in the research sample. The results consist in providing an overview of Romanian companies in terms of financial difficulty, as well as highlighting the three most representative symptoms of the existence of a crisis within the company, according to the analysis carried out on the basis of the selected sample. | Keywords: Financial Difficulty; Crisis; Romania; Entreprises. |
3. EXPLORING THE RELATION BETWEEN MACH SCORES AND RISK ATTITUDE: EMPIRICAL FINDINGS FROM INDIVIDUAL VERSUS GROUP TESTING | Download | Author(s): Dan Dacian Cuzdriorean, Alina Beattrice Vladu, Szilveszter Fekete Pali- Pista, Paula Ramona Rachisan, Adrian Grosanu | DOI: 10.4316/EJAFB.2024.12302 | | Abstract: Our research delves into the correlation between Mach scores and risk attitudes in both individual and group testing. We conducted a quasi-experiment involving accounting students and performed a statistical analysis of the data. Our findings reveal two key points: firstly, individuals with high Mach scores tend to be more inclined towards risk-taking compared to those with low scores on the Mach IV scale; and secondly, high Mach scores exert a greater influence on group decision-making. Our results underscore the distinction between group and individual behavior in terms of risk attitudes and highlight the predictive utility of the Mach-IV scale in assessing risk attitudes. | Keywords: Machiavellianism; Mach IV Scale; Risk Attitude; Individual Level; Group Level |
4. ASSESSING THE LIVING STANDARDS OF THE UNEMPLOYED IN THE
REPUBLIC OF MOLDOVA AND THE CONVERGENCE OF WELL-BEING
INDICATORS WITH EUROPEAN UNION STANDARDS | Download | Author(s): Oxana Barbaneagra | DOI: 10.4316/EJAFB.2024.12303 | | Abstract: The article explores the living conditions of the unemployed in the Republic of Moldova, emphasizing the need to
harmonize welfare indicators with European standards. The analysis reveals multiple challenges such as low
incomes, increased dependence on social benefits and high vulnerability to poverty. The study suggests that despite
recent wage and social increases, these fall short of meeting the basic needs of the unemployed. The authors
concludes by recommending the implementation of a more effective social protection system, supported by active employment policies, together with economic measures aimed at reducing inequality and improving social equity,
in order to increase the living standards of the unemployed and facilitate their social and occupational integration. | Keywords: Standard Of Living; Unemployed; Social Protection; Social Insurance; At-risk-of-poverty. |
5. ASSESSING THE EFFECTIVENESS OF SOCIAL SECURITY IN NIGERIA:
COVERAGE GAPS, SOCIOECONOMIC IMPACTS, AND POLICY
RECOMMENDATIONS FOR STABILITY | Download | Author(s): Enyinnaya Emmanuel Sike, Adedeji Adegoke, Rauf I. Rauf | DOI: 10.4316/EJAFB.2024.12304 | | Abstract: This study examines the effectiveness of Social Security Programs (SSPs) in Nigeria, focusing on awareness levels,
coverage gaps, socioeconomic impacts, and their role in addressing social security challenges. Using a mixed-
methods approach and cross-sectional survey design, the research analyzes data from respondents in the Federal
Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, representing formal and informal workers, retirees, and vulnerable populations.
Findings reveal significant limitations in SSP coverage, particularly for informal sector workers, due to barriers
such as high costs and lack of awareness. While pension schemes demonstrate positive impacts on retirees' financial stability, the overall effectiveness of SSPs in reducing poverty and unemployment remains limited.
Security challenges persist because of insufficient youth-focused initiatives and administrative inefficiencies,
though programs show potential for mitigating crime and enhancing public order when effectively implemented.
Recommendations include expanding coverage to informal workers, improving administrative efficiency,
increasing public awareness, and integrating youth empowerment initiatives into SSP frameworks. | Keywords: Social Security; Socioeconomic Stability; Pension Reform. |
6. PSYCHOLOGICAL HARASSMENT AT WORK IN MOROCCO: HUMAN RESOURCES EXPERTS' POINT OF VIEW | Download | Author(s): Karima Laghrifi | DOI: 10.4316/EJAFB.2024.12305 | | Abstract: This research examines the key elements of the phenomenon of workplace mobbing, highlighting its various manifestations, triggers, and repercussions on individuals, specifically victimized employees, and on organizations themselves. The impact of this phenomenon on employees' professional lives is examined from several angles, including its influence on their organizational commitment, job satisfaction, and their intention to leave their jobs. An important issue lies in the semantic ambiguity surrounding the term "workplace psychological harassment" in the Moroccan context. To provide answers, a qualitative contextualization study was conducted, revealing significant findings concerning the link between exposure to workplace harassment acts and employees' organizational commitment, job satisfaction, and propensity to consider leaving their position. This relationship is informed by psychological contract theory and reinforced by the findings of our qualitative study involving experts such as Human Resources Managers, wellness consultants, psychologists, occupational doctors, and lawyers. | Keywords: Workplace Harassment, Mobbing, Organizational Commitment, Job Satisfaction, Intention To Leave, Psychological Contract Theory. |

RESEARCH ON THE BANKRUPTCY RISK OF ROMANIAN INSURANCE COMPANIES BASED ON FINANCIAL INDICATORS FROM FINANCIAL STATEMENTS | Download | Author(s): Elena Hlaciuc | DOI: 10.4316/EJAFB.2024.12310 | | Abstract: The purpose of this paper is to show whether the information available to the general public, provided by the Ministry of Finance, is sufficient to form an opinion on the economic and financial background of an insurance company and whether it can protect us from the unpleasantness of taking out an insurance policy with a company that will go bankrupt in the near future. Clearly, we also aim to provide an understanding of the risks faced by insurance companies, to assess the effectiveness of regulations and supervisory bodies, and to propose solutions to prevent bankruptcies and protect future customers. In these contexts, the objectives set focus on analyzing the indicators in the annual financial statements that may or may not signal a future bankruptcy and whether this information can protect potential customers. The research methodology is based on techniques such as documentary synthesis on insurance, risk in insurance, analysis of financial statements on several indicators (solvency ratio, equity, return on equity (ROE), return on total assets (ROA), overall leverage ratio) in order to identify the risks that the main users of information provided by the financial statements of insurance companies are taking. | Keywords: Bankruptcy Risk; Insurance Market; Solvency Ratio; Return On Equity; Return On Total Assets. |
12. INFLUENCE OF ESG FACTORS ON COMPANIES MARKET CAPITALIZATION | Download | Author(s): Iulian Dascalu, Ioana Andrioaia, Veronica Grosu | DOI: 10.4316/EJAFB.2024.12311 | | Abstract: This study examines how environmental, social, and governance (ESG) performance correlates with market capitalization among companies listed on NASDAQ stock market. Drawing on a dataset of 200 companies, split evenly between the highest and lowest ESG performers from a Newsweek ranking, the research investigates whether robust ESG practices translate into superior market valuations. The method used was an econometric technique applied in SPSS, incorporating descriptive statistics, correlation tests, and a log-log (power) regression model to capture the potential non-linear relationship between ESG scores and market value. The ESG data, sourced and processed from publicly available rankings, is integrated with market capitalization figures retrieved from recognized financial platforms. The results provide evidence of a statistically significant relationship, suggesting that higher ESG scores may have a positive impact on a company's market capitalization. Furthermore, industries such as technology and financial services, which often emphasize sustainability and governance, emerged as leading examples where strong ESG policies align with a higher market value. | Keywords: ESG Performance; Market Capitalization; Corporate Sustainability; Corporate Governance; Non-linear Regression. |
